Dublin South-West is a constituency of contrasts – nearly one-half of voters live in predominantly working-class areas, while one-third of voters live in predominantly middle-class areas. And there are sharp contrasts in how the votes fell in the different areas.
For instance, just 11% of voters in predominantly working-class areas voted for Fine Gael, while 36% of voters in predominantly middle-class areas did so. On the other side of the coin, 30% of voters in predominantly working-class areas voted AAA-PBP, but only 5% of voters in predominantly middle-class areas did so.
